PayPal is one way to accept payments through your CloudSpot Store! To see if PayPal is supported in your country, click here for PayPal's list of accepted countries π
To start accepting payments through PayPal, you will need a PayPal Business Account. This offers all the same functions as a standard PayPal account but includes some more features, including the ability to connect CloudSpot! If you have a personal PayPal account, click here to learn how to convert your account.
If you already have a PayPal business account, click here to learn how to connect PayPal to CloudSpot.
How to Create a PayPal Business Account
The first step is to head over to PayPal to create a business account. If you are in the US, you can use this link. If you are in another country, enter PayPal Business [Your Country] into the search engine of your choice. Once there you'll enter your email and set a password.
The following steps may vary depending on your country, but they should be fairly similar.
Next, you will be prompted to enter your business's info. Don't worry if you haven't officially incorporated your business - you can still use PayPal Business! If this is you, for your "Legal Business Name", just enter what you go by to clients π
Next, you'll be prompted to describe your business π
For Monthly Sales, enter what you expect to do through PayPal - if this is just for CloudSpot, then this would only cover Gallery Sales. However, if you also send invoices through PayPal, be sure to add that amount here.
Next, you'll be prompted to enter some personal info for taxes:
Then you'll have a few more questions about what you sell, if you just use PayPal for CloudSpot, we recommend saying that you sell "Goods" "On a Marketplace".
Once you're done with that, you can now connect PayPal to your CloudSpot account, to start accepting payments.
To learn more about the fees associated with this option, we recommend heading over to PayPal to learn more.
How to Convert a Personal PayPal Account to a Business Account
If you already have a personal PayPal account that you'd like to convert to a business account, you can totally do that! To start just log into your PayPal account.
Go to your Settings.
Click Convert to a business account.
Enter your business information and click Agree and Continue.
Where to find API Codes
In order to accept payments on CloudSpot through PayPal, you need to link the two. This is done by grabbing your API Code and
Head over to PayPal's Business Tools and type "API credentials" and then "Get Started".
There you will see a section that says "Client ID" and "Secret":
Now that you have those codes pulled up, head over to the Payment Options tab on CloudSpot, and select Get Started next to PayPal. Then you'll copy and paste the API Client ID and API Secret:
Then click "Save" - and BOOM! You're done π
How do payments work?
When checking out, your client can sign into their PayPal account to pay for their order with their balance or an attached card. If they do not have an account, they can instead checkout as a guest.
If you're using Auto Fulfillment, CloudSpot is unable to withdraw the cost of goods sold (COGS) or Shipping from the payment amount, so your default card on file will be charged for that instead, while the full payment amount (minus any PayPal fees) will be transferred to your PayPal account!
Don't want to use PayPal? No worries! You can also connect via Stripe!
