Cancellations can be disappointing, but we're here to help you navigate this process!

In this article, we'll cover the recommended steps to handle canceled Projects in Studio, including how to remove or void documents and archive the project.

What to Do When a Client Cancels

1. Refund Payment(s)

Depending on the terms of your contract, you'll first want to refund any applicable payments your client has already made. You can issue a full or partial refund as needed. Click here for detailed steps and information on issuing refunds.

2. Send a Cancellation Contract

If a Contract has been sent to your client, but has not been signed by the client, it can be deleted entirely.

However, signed Contracts cannot be deleted. If your client has already signed their Contract, you'll want to send a follow up Contract that specifically supersedes the previous Contract, making it void.

If you don't already have a cancellation Contract, templates can be purchased from sites like Amy and Jordan, Katelyn James, the Legal Paige.

Always consult a lawyer to determine the best course of action for your specific circumstances.

โ€‹3. Archive the Project

Once you've confirmed the cancellation, you can then Archive the Project. Archiving removes the Project from your active list, but still preserves records of the changes made for cancellation. This way, everything is easily accessible for future reference when needed.
