What are Smart Fields and how do they work?

What are Smart Fields?

Smart Fields serve as a text placeholder that will populate with the corresponding information when you're ready to send a document out. They can be used to automatically fill in information such as your client's name, phone number, address, and so on.

When you have Smart Fields in a Contract or email template, those fields will automatically be filled with the information for your assigned client and Project, meaning you won't have to manually enter data each time you want to share a document!

How Do I Add a Smart Field?

Using Smart Fields is easy. On any Contract or email template, just click open the Smart Fields menu and choose from the list of supported fields. The placeholder text will automatically be added to the body of your email or Contract.

Smart Fields are available for use in the following locations:

Emails:

  • Subject Line

  • Body

Contracts:

  • Contract Title

  • Section Title

  • Body

It's important to note that Smart Fields can't be customized. So, to make sure Smart Fields work correctly, you need to choose from the list of fields we currently have available.
